How would you like to show your pupils how a video game is made? Even better, how about a game they’ve designed themselves? In under a weekend?
A team of web boffins from Oxygen Accelerator at Birmingham Science Park Aston are offering primary schools from across the West Midlands the chance to see their concepts jump from the page into a real working computer game in just 48 hours.
The finished game will then be sold on the Internet and on mobile phones, with all proceeds being donated to Children in Need.
Pupils can be as creative as they like, and are encouraged to work together to create a plot and series of characters for the game. It is hoped three different ideas will be selected.
The games will then be built by a crack team of designers and developers over a gruelling coding weekend on 12th and 13th November. The selected entrants will be invited to come down to Birmingham Science Park Aston and take part in the process of the game being made and the launch event on the Sunday afternoon.
Schools wanting to find out more should email mark@oxygenaccelerator.com.
Individual entries are also welcome from children in year six or below, an entry form downloaded here
Applications close at midday Friday 11th November and the winners announced at 16:00 on the same day.
